The results of the Championship meet are now posted to the Website.
From my desk, it has been a very fast season. I know that many families are now heading off to vacations; that's what we did 30+ years ago. Back then, the season ended in August, but school started later, as well. When we were actively scoring meets, our season ended with SCMAF and the challenge of scoring meets with boys & girls events running simultaneously.
This year, I have been putting more things on Google-ware, hence this Blog. If I do this next year, look for something that will be easier to pass along to others.
As I look at the rotation of duties, it appears that Shafter will assume the presidency and then ??? as there is no Bakersfield Untied, but there is room for American, BSA and Roadrunner to get into the rotation in addition to some of the smaller clubs. This would be good to sort out before February, and, perhaps, people will finally lose my phone number ;-)
I must say that I am sad to see the demise of the Desert teams. I actually enjoyed Ridgecrest at 110 deg F. At China Lake one year, a 4 year old boy swam backstroke to the middle of the pool, got turned around, and then finished where he started. Timers ran to the other end to give him times. Now I wish that I could remember who that was; did he continue with swimming?
Last year at this time, the clubs of the Swim Council presented us with a memento of our years doing meet computer processing for so many of them. That was in the form of $many and a sizeable plaque. I have found it hard to get a good photo of the plaque without reflection; however, here is one of our better attempts -- Thanks, friends.
